What I would say to someone who is on the fence about participating in therapy: It is okay to be on the fence about therapy. You may be wondering whether it could help, whether now is the right time, or whether you are ready to take that first step. There is no right way to begin. Reaching out for support is an act of courage. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, be genuinely heard, and make sense of what you are experiencing- without judgement and at your own pace. You already carry strengths that have helped you through everything you have faced so far. Together, we can make space to rediscover those strengths and explore what is possible moving forward. You do not have to be certain to take the first step. Sometimes, simply being willing to explore what is possible is enough.
Top three skills I bring into session: Acceptance, Compassion, and Empathy
Beliefs on Therapy
Therapy provides the opportunity to learn more about yourself in a safe, non-judgmental space with someone who is trained in different theories and techniques to support you in the way that you want and need. A counseling session should be a place to relax, take deep breaths, and just let go. For one hour, the space and conversation is all about you without outside influence. It is definitely a special place.
